Balbirnie has participated in nine Youth One Day Internationals while representing Ireland at the U-19 level. He led Ireland’s Under-19 World Cup Qualifying team to victory in 2009. By winning the competition, Ireland’s Under-19 cricket team qualified to compete in the 2010 U-19 Cricket World Cup.
