Barbados Royals, on the other hand, were beaten by a strong Saint Lucia Kings side who posted over 200 after batting first. Jason Holder took 4 wickets and did well with the ball for the Royals. In reply, the Royals could only manage 147 and lost the game by 54 runs. Their top order was blown away and they were already out of the chase very early in the innings. Nyeem Young, batting at 8, made a fine 48 and dragged his side to a respectable total. Barbados Royals will want to put the loss behind them and regroup going into this contest. Can they put up a better show today or will the Tallawahs get their second win? We shall find out soon. Toss and team news in a bit. Stay tuned!
Jamaica Tallawahs defeated the Saint Lucia Kings in the opening game of the season under the leadership of their new skipper Brandon King who made an attacking 81 and powered his side to 187 while batting first. Imad Wasim, Salman Irshad, and Chris Green picked up 7 wickets among them and got over the line by 11 runs. ...MATCH DAY...
We are on the final day at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet in St Lucia as we have a doubleheader lined up in the 11th edition of the Caribbean Premier League. We focus our attention on match number 5 where Jamaica Tallawahs lock horns against Barbados Royals with both teams having started the campaign in contrasting fashion against the same opponent. Both teams have played a game each against Saint Lucia Kings with Jamaica Tallawahs winning the opening match by 11 runs but Barbados Royals could not do the same as they suffered a 54-run defeat in the very next game. Brandon King continued his good form in the international games and scored an attacking 81 to take Jamaica Tallawahs to a good total in the last encounter. They have a strong batting line-up of Kirk Mckenzie, Shamarh Brooks, Raymon Reifer, and Fabian Allen and a strong Pakistani bowling contingent comprising Imad Wasim, Mohammad Amir, and Salman Irshad. Barbados Royals had a poor outing with the ball and despite Jason Holder's four-wicket haul, ended up conceding more than 200 runs. Their entire top order failed miserably and they fell well short of the target. Will the be able to return to winning ways? Or will Jamaica Tallawahs continue to their winning run? We will find out soon.
