Hope went to school at Bedes Senior School in East Sussex, England. Former Sussex captain Alan Wells was his teacher there. Hope led the 1st XI at Bede’s to the national 20/20 final, where he scored 50 against Millfield, but they still lost. Hope played for the East Sussex team Chiddingly CC for a short time during the 2012 season. He averaged 46 runs and had a high score of 61. He also thought about staying in the UK to get good enough to play cricket for the England team.
