Commentry
Right then, the captains shake hands and this also marks the end of the Saint Lucia leg of the competition. The caravan now moves to St Kitts for the next leg of the tournament and the next game will be played between St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Jamaica Tallawahs at Warner Park in Basseterre on the 24th of August at 4.30 am IST (11 am GMT). You can catch our build-up a lot sooner though and hopefully, the rain stays away and we get quality cricketing action. Cheers!
UPDATE 6.15 am IST (12.45 am GMT) - Oh, no! The inevitable has happened and unfortunately, the ground conditions have been deemed not fit enough for any play to take place. Not the ending the sizeable crowd inside the stadium and cricket fans across the world were hoping for but the spoils are shared.
UPDATE 5.55 am IST (12.25 am GMT) - The umpires have been out in the middle and are having a chat as the lone super sopper continues to do rounds. The match referee and the two captains are also in discussion with the umpires. Hopefully, we get a positive update soon. Stick around as we should have official word from the ground soon.
UPDATE 4.44 am IST (11.14 pm GMT) - A bit of an extended delay here as there is another inspection scheduled for 5.45 am IST (12.15 am GMT). There are a few concern areas in the outfield and the umpires want to make sure that the ground conditions are good enough for play to happen. Stay tuned for further updates.
UPDATE 4.32 am IST (11.02 pm GMT) - The umpires are out in the middle and having a discussion. The pitch itself is dry but whenever there is heavy rain, there are a few areas on the outfield that need a lot more work. We should have an official word soon.
UPDATE 4.22 am IST (10.52 pm GMT) - The news from the ground is that there will be an inspection by the umpires in a few minute's time at 4.30 am IST. For now, the toss is officially delayed but we should get a start time soon. Stick around for more updates.
The good news from the ground is that the rain seems to have stopped and the covers are off as well. However, there was persistent rain earlier on, so, the ground staff has their work cut off but it looks like we won't get much of a delayed start.
On the other hand, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have had a disappointing start to their season with their only game being washed out due to rain. The team is pretty balanced with the likes of Sheldon Cottrell, Dewald Brevis, Evin Lewis, and Ambati Rayudu in their squad. This looks like a strong batting unit and they will hope to score some runs out there today to get their momentum going. This will be a high-octane clash as both teams will be eyeing the win early on in the tournament to establish themselves on the points table. Stay with us as the live-action will commence shortly. Toss and team news to follow.
Saint Lucia Kings sit comfortably at the top of the table having 3 points off their 3 matches. They started off with a loss against the Tallawahs but bounced back strongly against the Royals. Their recent match against the Amazons was called off due to rain. Led by the experienced Faf du Plessis, this team has a mix of young talent and experience with players like Johnson Charles, Roston Chase, Alzarri Joseph, and many more. The form of Faf is important to them as he provides a strong start to their innings. Matthew Forde is at the helm of their bowling attack and his in great form after taking 3 wickets against the Royals. They will hope to win this match to keep up their momentum in the tournament.
Hello and a very warm welcome folks. The Caribbean Premier League is in full swing as we approach the 6th match of the season to be played between St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Saint Lucia Kings. The venue for the clash is the Darren Sammy Stadium in Gros Islet.
We are going to play the last match at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Isle in St Lucia before moving to Warner Park in Basseterre in St Kitts. It is match number 6 in the eleventh edition of the Caribbean Premier League as Saint Lucia Kings play their fourth game in quick time and this will be against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. The visitors have been involved in one game so far and it was against Trinbago Knight Riders but the match was abandoned after just 3 overs. The points were shared and they will be hoping to get their first win on the board. The side is captained by Evin Lewis and have players like Sherfane Rutherford, Andre Fletcher, Corbin Bosch, and Ambati Rayudu in their batting line-up. The have a strong pace bowling unit comprising Dominic Drakes, Blessing Muzarabani, Oshane Thomas, and Sheldon Cottrell with George Linde fulfilling the spin-bowling responsibilties. The hosts lost their first game against Jamaica Tallawahs by 11 runs but came back strong to beat Barbados Royals by 54 runs. They will be disappointed that their third match against Guyana Amazon Warriors got abandoned due to rain as they now have just three points in three games. They will be eager to clinch victory in this game as this will be the final game that will be played by them in front of their home crowd. The presence of Faf du Plessis, Johnson Charles and Roston Chase already makes them a strong batting side but they have the Zimbawean all-rounders Sean Williams and Sikandar Raza to give them further solidity in the middle order. Chris Sole, Alzarri Joseph, and the young Jair McAllister give them ample options in the pace bowling department as they look to get their second win of the competition. Will they be able to give the home fans something to cheer about? Or will St Kitts and Nevis Patriots register their first win? We will find out soon.
