Right then! That is all we have from this one-sided encounter. Guyana Amazon Warriors look like a team on the rise while St Kitts and Nevis Patriots are seeing their hopes of making it to the next stage dwindle away. The action continues in the eleventh edition of the Caribbean Premier League, 2023 as we have another doubleheader coming for you with the first game played on Saturday 26th August. Saint Lucia Kings will take on Trinbago Knight Riders at 7.30 pm IST (2.00 pm GMT) and the second game between St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Barbados Royals will start on Sunday 27th August at 4.30 am IST (11.00 pm GMT, the previous day) but you can join us well in advance for the build-up. Until then, goodbye and cheers!
Imran Tahir, the captain of Guyana Amazon Warriors says that he is proud of the win. Adds that the boys did well and it all went according to the plan. Mentions that the job of the spinners is crucial in the middle overs and credits Gudakesh Motie for doing well today. Shares that he wants to carry on and continue the good form shown by the team. Closes by saying that they have a team that plays positive cricket and when they get a good start, they wish to make the most of it.
Evin Lewis, the skipper of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots says that they were positive about chasing down the target but things did not work out as planned. Adds that the wicket was true and he backed his seamers to do the job. Shares that the crowd always turns up at St Kitts and they hope to do well for them in the next encounter.
Gudakesh Motie is the Player of the Match for his four-wicket haul. He says that he hit the right areas and that worked well for him. Adds that he enjoys bowling alongside Imran Tahir and it’s a good learning curve. Shares that he is happy with the support of the fans and is looking forward to doing well going ahead.
Time for the presentations...
Saim Ayub got his team off to a flier in the first inning scoring 31 runs in 17 balls despite losing his opening partner Chandrapaul Hemraj on a duck. Shai Hope was brilliant with the bat scoring 54 runs in 32 deliveries and cameos from Shimron Hetmyer, Keemo Paul, and Romario Shepherd pushed them close to the 200-run mark. Oshane Thomas claimed three wickets and Dominic Drakes chipped in with two but all the fast bowlers were quite expensive as they could not put a cap on the scoring rate throughout the inning. They left their batters with an uphill task to climb on a difficult wicket and they fell well short of completing their task.
Guyana Amazon Warriors were on the money right from the word go as Romario Shepherd and Keemo Paul claimed one wicket each in the Powerplay. Imran Tahir was expensive in his first over conceding 21 runs but once Evin Lewis was dismissed the spinners ruled the roost. Gudakesh Motie was the pick of the bowlers claiming four wickets and conceding 29 runs in his full quota of overs and the skipper chipped in with two wickets as well. Odean Smith and Dwaine Pretorius took one wicket a piece towards the end to ensure that all bowlers have at least one wicket under their belt. They will want to take this confidence into the tournament as they look to maintain their momentum.
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots were pegged back in the run chase early as they lost Andre Fletcher in the second over. Joshua Da Silva was also dismissed in the Powerplay but a counter-attacking knock from Evin Lewis kept them well in the hunt. He fell two runs short of his half-century and his wickets initiated a slide from which the Patriots never recovered. Ambati Rayudu stuck around in the middle scoring 32 runs in 24 deliveries but the rest of the batters were dismissed in single digits. They will be hoping for a better performance with the bat and the ball in their next encounter if they are to keep themselves alive in the tournament.
A comprehensive victory for Guyana Amazon Warriors as they register their first win of the competition! They have won by a massive margin of 65 runs and with this result, they now have 3 points in two games having seen their first game end with no result. They have been exceptional in all aspects of the game and Imran Tahir will be proud of his team’s efforts. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have had a game to forget and seem to be in all sorts of trouble after four games. They saw their first two games abandoned due to rain and now with two consecutive losses, they are stuck on 2 points.

Dwaine Pretorius 12/1(2.5)
OUT! CAUGHT! GAME. SET. MATCH. A convincing win here for the Guyana Amazon Warriors! It's all over for the Patriots who are bundled out for 132 inside 17 overs. Short of a length, around off. Guyana Amazon Warriors win by a massive margin of 65 runs and take two points.

SNP vs GAW Preview

The St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Guyana Amazon Warriors will face off in Match 8 of the 2023 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) on Friday, August 25 at Warner Park in St Kitts.

The Patriots are currently third in the standings with two points from three matches, while the Warriors have played just one match so far, which was abandoned due to rain.

The Patriots will be without their captain, Chris Gayle, who has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury. However, they still have a strong batting line-up, led by Devon Thomas, Evin Lewis, and Nicholas Pooran.

The Warriors have a potent batting line-up of their own, led by Shimron Hetmyer, Brandon King, and Nicholas Pooran. They also have a good bowling attack, led by Mohammad Hafeez and Imran Tahir.

The pitch at Warner Park is a batting-friendly wicket, so both teams will be looking to score heavily. The weather is expected to be clear, so there should be no rain interruptions.

The Patriots will be the slight favorites to win this match, but the Warriors are a dangerous side and cannot be underestimated.

SNP vs GAW Pitch Report

The pitch at Warner Park is a batting-friendly wicket, with a good amount of grass cover. The ball comes onto the bat nicely and the batters can score runs freely. However, the spinners can also come into play in the middle overs, as the wicket tends to grip a bit.

The weather is expected to be clear on match day, so there should be no rain interruptions.
