Taskin Ahmed Cricket Career

Domestic Career

Here is all about Taskin Ahmed’s Domestic Career.

On the 10th of January 2007, Taskin began playing cricket in the Abahani playground. After competing in the under-15 and under-17 levels of the tournament, he was chosen to participate in the under-19 tournament for the Bangladesh national cricket team. It was in October 2011 against Barisal Division that he made his debut for Dhaka Metropolis in the first-class competition.

Taskin took 11 wickets while playing for Bangladesh in the ICC Under-19 World Cup in 2012, making him the player with the most wickets overall. His bowling performance of 4/31 against Duronto Rajshahi in the semi-final of the BPL 2 for the Chittagong Kings earned him the title of man of the match. This was his second Twenty20 encounter with the Chittagong Kings. The moment when he took eight wickets in four matches was the most significant turning point in his career.

During the third season of the BPL, Taskin was a member of the Chittagong Vikings. He rose to the position of the fourth most searched person on Google from Bangladesh in 2015.

Following the draught for the 2018–19 Bangladesh Premier League that took place in October 2018, Taskin was included in the Sylhet Sixers team that was selected to compete in the league. Twenty-two wickets were taken off of the opposition’s bats by him during the course of the competition, making him the leading wicket-taker for the side. It was announced in November 2019 that he would be joining the Rangpur Rangers for the 2019–20 season of the Bangladesh Premier League.

Following the players’ draught for the 2021 Lanka Premier League, which took place in November 2021, he was given the opportunity to participate in the game for the Colombo Stars.

In the event that Mashrafe had an injury, the door to the national team was abruptly opened for him. On April 1, 2014, he made his debut in Twenty20 Internationals, and, in that match, he took the wicket of Glenn Maxwell.

He made his One-Day International (ODI) debut for Bangladesh on June 17, 2014, and his performance against India earned him five wickets.

On the 12th of January 2017, Taskin made his debut for Bangladesh in a test match against New Zealand. During the match, he took his first test wicket by getting Kane Williamson out of the game.

As a result of Taskin’s exceptional play in domestic cricket during the 2014 season, Bangladesh chose to include him in the team that will compete in the Cricket World Cup in 2015. During the group stage of the World Cup, he took one wicket against Afghanistan, three against Scotland, and two against England. This played a very significant role in Bangladesh’s ability to qualify for the quarter-finals, which were held in Melbourne. The quarter-final match between Bangladesh and India took place in Melbourne. Once again, Taskin impressed with his performance by taking three wickets. During the world cup, he took the most wickets for Bangladesh than any other player. According to cricketcountry.com, one of the most memorable moments of the World Cup was the “Chest-bump” celebration that took place between Taskin and Mashrafe after the latter of the two players had taken a wicket.

The Ascension of Taskin

Whitewashing Pakistan in April 2015 and winning against India in June 2015 were both made possible, in large part, by Taskin’s efforts.

In 2016, Bangladesh chose Taskin to be a part of their team that will compete in the ICC World Twenty20. However, because of an unlawful act that he bowled during the competition, he was ultimately banned from bowling in any international cricket matches in the future.

In June of 2021, he was included in the Bangladesh squad for their tour to Zimbabwe, which included all formats of the game. He scored 75 runs and reached his first fifty in a test match when it was played against Zimbabwe. This was his first fifty in any test match. Together with Mahmudullah, he maintained a partnership that scored 191 runs throughout the course of a test match, which was the second-best ninth-wicket partnership in the history of the game. Taskin’s knock of 75 runs was also the greatest individual score achieved by a Bangladeshi batsman batting at number 10 while playing away from home.

He was selected for the Bangladesh squad that would compete in the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in September of 2021. By taking 8 wickets in 5 matches during the 2022 T20 World Cup, he became Bangladesh’s all-time leader in terms of the most wickets taken by a Bangladeshi player.
